OMRON VIPER: A HIGH PERFORMER ARTICULATED ROBOT

Omron’s Adept Viper series consists of six-axis articulated robots that offer the versatility of a large work area with the convenience of a slim and compact architecture. Omron Viper is a high-performance articulated robot ideal for assembly, material handling, packaging, machine tending and many other operations that require speed and precision in a 650mm or 850mm radius.

Omron Viper: an anthropomorphic robot for processing, assembly and handling
  • Ethernet functionality for controlling the robot through the programming language of the NX / NJ machine controller (IEC 61131-3)
  • The diagnostic display allows quick troubleshooting
  • High-resolution absolute encoders offers high accuracy, advanced low-speed holding functionality and easy calibration
  • High efficiency, low inertia harmonic drives and a lightweight arm ensure maximum acceleration
  • Operating range: 650 and 850 mm models
  • 5 kg payload
  • Models with IP40 degree of protection
  • Cleanroom C10 optional
anthropomorphic robot and robotic arm – generality

The anthropomorphic robot imitates some human movements, or rather, the anthropomorphic robot imitates some human characteristics. In the industrial field, an anthropomorphic robot is commonly understood as a robotic arm with an open kinematic structure and six degrees of freedom: in practice it is a mechanical arm that imitates human movements and is therefore particularly effective in carrying out human work. In humanoid robotics, the anthropomorphic robot also imitates other human characteristics: for example, appearance, expression, perception.
The first anthropomorphic robot to be used in the industrial field was built in 1973 by the Swedish company Asea: its name is IRB 6 and it is a robotic arm used for polishing steel pipes. In the same year, the German Kuka builds the first robotic arm with 6 electromechanical axes.
